Rajinikanth: "CAA is not a threat, NPR is necessary"

Actor Rajinikanth who has been silent for a long time on the Citizenship Amendment Act has stated that Indian Muslims are not affected by the act and have asked political parties to stop panicking over it.

The Superstar actor has also said that according to the law if the Indian Muslims get expelled, he will be the first person to voice out for them. Speaking to reporters at the Boise Gardens in Chennai, Rajini said some politicians are panicking over the impact of the Citizenship Amendment on Indian Muslims.

He said that the national census is very important for every country and census was already conducted during the Congress regime also. Rajini also questioned how other people could be identified without conducting the census.

Rajini questioned the central government on why they have not taken any decision on the implementation of NRC and NPR. He advised the students to be cautious and think wisely before protesting since the politicians can use them to gain support.

Rajini also demanded that Sri Lankan Tamilians should be granted dual citizenship.
