Will the war between Trump and Pelosi increase tension between the White House and Democrats?
During Tuesday's State of the Union address, US President Donald Trump ignored House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's attempt to shake his hand that comes in revenge after House Democrats impeached Trump a month ago.
Immediately after the President's speech, the California Democrat stood up behind him and ripped her copy of the speech in half.
It remains unclear whether the President avoided Pelosi's handshake on purpose. The tension between the White House and the California Democrat has increased considerably in recent months after Pelosi ordered an investigation over Trump's conduct regarding Ukraine. Last month, House Democrats approved two articles of impeachment against Trump.
This Trump and Pelosi war is not healthy especially when high-profile events like the killing of top Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani and ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdad have taken place.
Trump has already said that it will be very difficult for him to work with Democrats especially after the impeachment trial.
After the speech, Pelosi took to twitter and tweeted, "Democrats will never stop extending the hand of friendship to get the job done #ForThePeople. We will work to find common ground where we can, but will stand our ground where we cannot."
