Will eating eggs and broiler chicken spread Corona Virus?
The deadly coronavirus which has killed more than 3000 people around the world has affected more than 1,00,000 people now. India has 30 infected cases who are closely monitored and are given proper treatment.
Meanwhile, rumors are spreading in WhatsApp and other social media that coronavirus can spread by eating meats especially eggs and broiler chicken.
The FSSAI, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India released a report to clarify this:
In the report, it is said, that there is no proven fact that coronavirus can spread through meats like mutton, chicken or egg. The FSSAI has also said that in a warmer country like India the virus will fade away when the temperature reaches 36 C.
Tamil Nadu Health Minister Vijayabaskar also asked the public not to believe in such rumors and advised not to spread such fake news at this time of crisis.
It is incorrect to say that the coronavirus is spread by eating broiler chicken, and its eggs. It is believed that the virus has already passed from animal to human. But now it is spreading from human to fellow humans. Union Health Minister Harshvardhan has said in the parliament that no public should panic over the spread of coronavirus in India.
The main reason for the increase in India is the fact that 15 foreigners from Italy have been confirmed with the infection. The central government has ordered the airports to check all passengers from overseas.
Union Health Minister Harshvardhan gave a briefing in Parliament yesterday on the impact of coronavirus. He said the government had already begun all preparations for the defense of the Coronavirus starting from January 17. No one in the public should panic about the virus. He said the government has taken the necessary steps to tackle this new challenge.
