Indian Geological Survey officials have unearthed a gold mine weighing over 3 thousand tonnes (30 lakh kg) in Uttar Pradesh. The gold mine, discovered in Sonbhadra district, is worth Rs. 12 lakh crore. This amount is more than five times the amount than the central government's fund.
Geological Survey Officers began the process of determining whether there was gold in this area or not in 1992 - '93. Their study has come to success after 27 years.
Sonbhadra is the second-largest district in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The district is bordered by Madhya Pradesh in the west, Chhattisgarh in the south, Jharkhand in the south and Bihar in the east.
The online contract to bring out the treasures lying on the ground is to be launched soon. Officials say that the Son Bahadi area has about 2,943.26 tonnes of gold and 646.16 kg of gold in the Hardi region.
According to the Geological Survey Center, there are some other precious minerals in the area besides gold.
India currently holds 626 tonnes of gold, according to the World Gold Council. In comparison, Uttar Pradesh has 5 times more gold buried in the earth. It is worth Rs. 12 lakh crore, officials said.
Initially, the British have started to investigate the gold mine in this area. Sonbhadra is a district that was invaded by the Naxals for a long time.
