A Chinese tourist who arrived in Rameshwaram on Saturday was sent back to China itself.
Sengh, a 25-year-old Chinese tourist belongs to Anhui, a Chinese province. Anhui is located 500 kilometers away from the Wuhan province where the coronavirus outbreak happened.
Sengh reached Kolkata and traveled to Rameshwaram on a tourist visa.
He checked in at a private hotel in Rameshwaram on Saturday. The hotel management informed the police after the staff and people started panicking over Sengh's country of origin.
There was a basic screening on Sengh at the hotel. The police said he did not have any symptoms and the person was in good health. Later, Sengh agreed to return to China.
Then flight tickets were arranged for him and he was taken to the Madurai airport with full protection. The health department officials went beyond the boarding point to ensure he had boarded the flight.
