A Pakistan high court has ruled a judgment saying that a marriage with an underage girl is valid if she has attained puberty.
It is said that Huma, a 14-year-old Christian girl from Karachi, was abducted by a person named Abdul Jabbar. The girl's parents had filed a complaint against Abdul for kidnapping, forced conversion, and marriage.
After hearing the petition the High Court of Sindh has said that even though the girl is underage for marriage, once a girl attains puberty she is eligible to get married. So, as per Sharia law, this marriage would be valid.
The girl's parents have said that they will appeal to the Supreme Court of Pakistan against the verdict.
