Cricketer Turned Politician Gautam Gambhir said that his party has to accept the defeat where Aam Admi Party is headed for a huge victory. He said that they accept the defeat and congratulate Kejriwal for the win.
He also said that they could not convince the people of the national capital. Speaking to the news agency ANI, Gambhir said, "We tried our best but, probably, we could not convince the people of the state. I hope Delhi develops under the chief ministership of Arvind Kejriwal."
Gautam Gambhir won the east Delhi seat last year during the parliament election. In his debut election, He defeated AAP's Atishi Marlena
Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari had said that his party will come to power by winning at least 48 seats. Even today morning before the count he said, "I will not be surprised even if we win 55."
But as soon as the counting began AAP started leading with a high margin leaving BJP behind with 8 seats.
Tiwari later spoke to the press asking his party workers not to feel daunted over the loss.
BJP leader Parvesh Varma also told ANI that he accepts the defeat and will work hard for better performance in the next election".
