Thala Dhoni who will be leading CSK in the IPL's 13th season has said that the yellow team was responsible for helping him to learn how to be humble and to progress as a cricketer. The team under Dhoni's captaincy holds three IPL trophies and two Champions League trophies in 2010 and 2014.
Dhoni who spoke in a press meet said, “This journey started in 2008. CSK has helped me in every way. As a man and a cricketer, it has been very helpful to understand how to handle difficult situations inside and outside the field and how to behave with humility after playing well."
“Thala 'basically means brother. This is a summary of the love that the fans here have for me. They will never call me by my name when I am in Chennai or in South India. They call me 'Thala'. The moment someone calls me, they show their love and respect. But at the same time they are a CSK fan, ” he added.
Dhoni who has played 190 IPL matches and scored 4,432 runs, including 23 fifties. In the first match of the IPL 2020, CSK meets current defending champion Mumbai Indians.
