A Luxury Bus from Bangalore to Trivandrum and a container lorry carrying tiles from Coimbatore which was headed to Salem collided face to face at the National Highway near Avinashi, Tiruppur district. About 20 people died during the incident. The injured were taken to the hospital and the police are investigating how the crash has happened.
Kerala Transport Minister AK Saseendran said that the Kerala State transport's Luxury bus has crashed on its way from Bangalore to Ernakulam. The Police have said that the death toll may increase cause many people are in serious condition.
The right side of the bus is completely shattered. Reports say that the crash happened after the tire of the container truck burst and the lorry lost its control which in turn crashed into the oncoming bus.
Similarly, a tourist bus and an Omnibus collided in Narippallam near Omalur, Salem district. Five people were killed in the accident. More than 20 passengers were admitted to Salem Government Hospital with injuries. Initial reports suggest that the victims were tourists from Nepal.
